Curragh Carpet

Curragh Carpets has been making carpet in County Kildare for over 60 years. We are the only Irish Carpet manufacturer to produce carpet in Ireland allowing us to use the prestigious ‘Guaranteed Irish’ logo.

Curragh Carpets was initially established as Curragh Tintawn Carpets and was formed as a division of Irish Ropes Plc. Originally the division was created to manufacture carpet from the sisal used to make ropes.

Carpet manufacturing

Until the 1950s the traditional method of manufacturing carpet was weaving, Axminster Wilton and Flatbed. In the 1950’s new technology was developed that enabled carpet to be manufactured using the tufting process. Curragh Carpets produces carpet utilizing all four of these carpet production methods.

New carpet fibres

At the same time as tufting technology was introduced to the carpet industry, new fibres were also being introduced. These new fibres add to the range and variety of interesting carpet yarns and textures. Curragh Carpets produces carpet in both wool and wool-rich blends. We have an enviable reputation for producing high end innovative products. This innovation is maintained through investment in state of the art technology including a 7.5 million euros state of the art manufacturing plant in Newbridge, County Kildare.
